Over 1 billion people around the globe suffer daily from contaminated and polluted water found in lakes, wells, and even sea water. These contaminates can range from natural minerals to man-made chemicals or even human and animal waste. Other than having contaminated and polluted water, the use of sea water with high levels of salt raises another issue. Around the world, sea water is known to have approximately 70 to 80 times higher salt levels than drinking water. An aggressive demand for good, clean, and purified water is increasing daily as people search for a solution to satisfy their personal, commercial, or industrial needs.

A solution to this problem was discovered back in the 1950's when engineers developed a process that mastered the separation of purified water from brackish and sea water. This process came to be known as "Reverse Osmosis".

In Reverse Osmosis, a pump is used to highly pressurize Brackish or Sea water against the surface of a semi-porous membrane forcing the transport of salt-depleting water, suspended colloidal particles, minerals, ions, and other disassociated species across the membrane leading to the emergence of purified water on the lower-pressured side.
